Grip Extension Failure - Carriers of small pistols BEWARE

I had a grip extension on my trusty KelTec P3AT.

Recently when I shot it, on the first round the floor plate / grip extension broke off and the contents of the magazine emptied into my hand. Thankfully I was not defending my life when this happened.

My big hands really need the longer grip this device provides but I am unwilling to put another one on. I might be willing to try an extended magazine if the steel magazine is the extended part and not just an extended floor plate.

KelTec has been unresponsive to my phone calls and e-mails.

Looking at the photo, it's broken on both sides. It didn't just fall off, it's been beaten and broken badly.

    Thank you Mr. Know-it-all.

It was NOT beaten or otherwise abused. This is my carry piece. It failed where the grip slides over the lip on the steel magazine. As the muzzle flips back, most of the force of the recoil is transferred to this point causing it to break off.

You're quite welcome. Happy to help!

I'll also point out that the majority of the breaks have smooth edges which indicates they are old and the extension has been breaking down over time. The jagged break towards the top is the latest one where the extension actually failed.

    BTW..."trusty KelTec P3AT..." There's no such thing.

Thank you for being respectful of my opinions.
