AR Lowers - Too Many Choices

I'm looking to build an AR. It'll be my first AR. I'm more of a handgun and shotgun guy, so I don't really know much about them. The only reason I am thinking of building one is that eventually I would like to get "The Jack" lower (it's the one with the skull mag well). But, since there is a four month backlog on them, I figured I would pick up a good inexpensive lower to start with, then maybe the rush on The Jack will die down and I'll pick it up then. It'll give me the experience of putting one together.

Anyway, searching online it feels like there are thousands of choices for AR lowers out there and no advice on what to look for or what not to get. So, what is a good value AR lower without sacrificing quality?

There are tons of decent quality lowers available. To be perfectly honest, most people could buy the biggest P.O.S. lower on the market and never have an issue with it....Unless it's one of the lower end polymer lowers.

If you want to support Oregon businesses, look at Stoner Arms, TNW Firearms, R&J Firearms, Noveske etc...

Since you're looking for info on building an AR, might I suggest this read?
