    Sb 941

I wrote a few letters today that went like this:

    Representative XXXXXXX,

My name is XXXXXX. I am a resident of Oregon and am not affiliated with any political party.

I oppose SB 941. The bill does not make this state a safer place. The vast majority of gun sales are already subject to background checks by law. Person-to-person transfers are also largely covered due to voluntary background checks. All firearms transfers as a result of internet sales are also subject to mandatory background checks as are sales at gun shows.

According to the ATF, the biggest sources of firearms for criminals are straw purchases, corrupt FFL dealers, and unlicensed street dealers. Current laws are sufficient to pursue these illegal sales. We don't need any additional laws to stop the illegal sale of firearms to criminals.

Furthermore, SB 941 is dangerous because it would necessitate the creation, or de facto creation, of a firearm registry, which poses a direct threat to my rights.

Please vote no on SB 941.

    Sincerely,
    XXXXXXX

I went to Val Hoyle's hearing on SB 941. It was ask how many phone calls and e-mails they had received pro and con. One of the two republicans told us that they had received over 2,200 e-mails against and only 3 for the bill and yet they passed it on to the floor by noon the next day. So what does that say....eh ?

It was a great waist of time for all involved they already knew how the democrats were going to vote. That's when I decided that I would get involved in the up coming recalls.

Only 2,200 against it? They received more than that just the week before the vote. 6,498 emails were sent using the automailer from the Oregon Firearms Federation alone.

Thanks for getting involved in the recalls! May I ask what your involvement is at this point?

I went to the first meeting to recall Chuck Riley but that turned out to be to far from home.
I worked with Jason Thiesfeild directly on the Val Hoyle recall from start to finish.
